Jesmonite Care & Material Guide

What is Jesmonite?

Jesmonite is an eco-friendly, water-based composite material. It has a smooth, cool, stone-like feel and is known for being lighter and more durable than traditional concrete. Because of the artisanal nature of Jesmonite, slight color variations and small unique air bubbles may occur. These aren't flaws; they are the "fingerprints" of a handmade process that make your piece one-of-a-kind.

Daily Care

  • Spills: Jesmonite is porous. While our pieces are sealed for water resistance, they are not waterproof. Wipe away liquids like coffee, tea, or oils immediately to prevent staining.

  • Cleaning: Use a soft, damp cloth with a tiny bit of mild soap if needed. Avoid harsh chemical cleaners or abrasive scrubbing pads, as these can strip the sealant and damage the surface.

  • Not Dishwasher/Microwave Safe: These pieces are decorative and should never be placed in the dishwasher or microwave.

Safety & Use

  • Food Safety: Our Jesmonite items are intended for decorative use (trinkets, candles, styling). They are not tested for direct food contact.

  • Heat: Our coasters and trays are heat-resistant and perfect for candles or hot mugs, but please avoid placing them in direct contact with high-heat sources like a stovetop.

  • Avoid Dropping: While Jesmonite is strong, it can chip or break if dropped onto a hard surface. Treat it with the same care you would ceramic or stone.
